HUSQVARNA OFF-ROAD ACE KICKS BUTT
Glenn Kearney Podiums The Stomp, Runs Up Front At Muddy Missouri Enduro

May 17, 2010 - Woodcliff Lake, NJ - Team Husqvarna's off-road hotshoe Glenn Kearney continues to step up his game, finishing in third place at the Yadkin Valley Stomp in Yadkinville, North Carolina on May 9. That fine performance was followed up by Kearney challenging the leaders at the Leadbelt National Enduro held near Park Hills, Missouri this past weekend. Despite the extremely wet and muddy conditions in Missouri, not to mention some other challenges, Kearney finished just off the podium in fourth place by a few seconds.

"It would have been nice to finish on the box two weekends in a row," admits the affable Australian woods specialist. "But we had some off-track drama to contend with between the races. Seems that Kearney's brother/mechanic Ben broke his femur testing the bike just before the Stomp and was left without a leg to stand on, so to speak. "Ben got the bike ready for the Enduro in Missouri, but I learned a little bit about putting a top end on a 4-stroke, timing valves and that sort of stuff." After ending the 2009 season having to race a couple of rounds with a badly broken ankle, Glenn can certainly feel his brother's pain!

Kearney powers his TXC 250 through the sloppy conditions in Missouri.
Broken-legged Ben's stand-in crew chief for the Leadbelt National Enduro round was Glenn's girlfriend Crystal, who was cutting Kearney no slack! After dicing with the leaders on the wet, whooped and messy 65-mile loop, Glenn kicked it up a gear and got by Husaberg's Mike Lafferty on the final special test and tried to close the gap on another Husaberg rider, Nick Fahringer for third. His spirited charge came up just short as Kearney finished in fourth by just three seconds.

The Aussie export attributes his ability to run up front to his 2010 Husqvarna. "Despite my attempts at fettling the 4-stroke, my TXC 250 still ran flawlessly," he jokes. "Seriously, the light weight and superb handling made it possible to charge through the mud and sand in Missouri... the bike is so light and handles so well that it allowed me to stay on top of the sand that normally would have sapped the power. I could not be happier with the bike! Now I’m ready to kick some butt!"
